About the Opportunity

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is often the first point of contact a new potential client will have with a business when they are seeking information on the products and services the company provides. The BDM also responds to RFPs, tenders, and develops sales in new sales territories.

To excel in this role, you should be an active listener, have a compelling sales personality, and have a hunger to chase and close new business from cold calls and inbound warm leads.

Role Reporting

The role reports to the International Business Development Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contact potential clients to establish rapport and arrange meetings.
  • Plan and oversee new marketing initiatives.
  • Research organisations and individuals to find new opportunities.
  • Increase the value of current customers while attracting new ones.
  • Find and develop new markets and improve sales.
  • Attend conferences, meetings and industry events.
  • Develop quotes and proposals for clients.
  • Develop goals for the development team and business growth and ensure they are met.
  • Train personnel and help team members develop their skills.
  • Manage revenue budgeting and forecasting for the business unit.
  • Develop cash-flow and profit analysis on requested quotes and proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, IT/IS, marketing or a related field.

Experience & Skills

  • 3–5 years of function-related experience.
  • More than 10 years of ICT experience.
  • 3–5 years of engineering, manufacturing or industrial IT experience.
  • Deep understanding of the ITIL framework and ISA95 standards.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multitask.
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance, be proactive and handle uncertainty.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
